Empennage Part Two

The six elevator hinges have been installed.  A steel rod is inserted through all six to assist with linear alignment.

The ribs aft of the spar have been installed.

Typical elevator hinge attachment shown from the forward side of the shear web.

Anchor nuts are riveted to aluminum backing plates.  The backing plates are then pop riveted to the shear web.

Elevator hinge assembly is complete.

This side is ready for the bonding of the upper right quad.

The hinges will be removed so that the aft side of the shear web can be laminated after the upper right quad is installed.  These will be "U" shaped laminates that will tie together the upper quad, shear web, and lower quad.

The empennage is now ready for both upper quads to be bonded in place.

The upper right quad is bonded and clamped in place.

The upper left, and final, quad is bonded in place!
